Beginning my journey in the Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) program, it was definitely a big change. From these past 3 months, I've already amassed a wide variety of knowledge in the professional world. Presently, we apply this knowledge to real professionals in the workforce.
During these past few months, however, there were many moments I wasn't always able to stay on track with my peers. Many of my fellow ISM students are already wonderful speakers, which is a skill I am still working on. Although I am not yet an adept presenter, I think it has still improved greatly since the beginning of my journey in the Independent Study and Mentorship program.
Many issues also arose with an essential tool that we use in the program, and is useful even in the job-searching world, LinkedIn. However, for unknown reasons the website has been blocked for me. Although this has set me back on discovering many future contacts, I have found other methods of finding professionals in the industry.
Recently, I also experienced my first interview! I believe it went really well, and I learn a lot of insightful information from my interviewer. They shared their experiences and how they got into the field, and I was able to ask any questions I had about the profession. This interview was a stepping stone into future interviews, and I have now gained a better idea of what to look forward to as I continue contacting professionals and applying the skills I learned. Even when there may be many setbacks, it is important to keep on track with goals.
As Mr. Pirtle once said, "Consistent, Persistent Effort Yields Results".
